Robert Burns, DVM

Chief of Staff

Dr. Robert Burns graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) at the University of Guelph in 1989. Shortly after graduation, he acquired Darlington Veterinary Hospital, where he has proudly served the community ever since.

For more than three decades, Dr. Burns has remained passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care. His commitment to lifelong learning is one of the cornerstones of his practice, and he continues to pursue continuing education on a regular basis to ensure he offers the latest advancements in veterinary medicine and surgery.

Dr. Burns has developed extensive expertise in advanced surgical procedures, including orthopedic surgeries such as Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO), minimally invasive laparoscopic soft tissue surgery, abdominal ultrasonography, and echocardiography. His dedication to expanding his knowledge and surgical skills allows him to provide comprehensive, high-quality care to his patients.

Above all, Dr. Burns values the relationships he has built with generations of clients and their pets. He takes pride in delivering compassionate, personalized care and considers it a privilege to be part of each pet's healthcare journey.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Burns enjoys spending time with his wife, their six children, and four grandchildren—with more family memories to come. When he's not caring for patients, he can often be found fishing, boating, playing acoustic guitar, reading, or enjoying quality time with his family.
